J.P. White already has four books of poetry under his belt and now he’s celebrating the release of his first novel Every Boat Turns South. You have plenty of chances to celebrate with him in the next week or so. He’ll be reading at 7 p.m. tonight at The Loft 1011 Washington Ave S # 301, Minneapolis, MN; at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 3 at Magers & Quinn, 3038 Hennepin Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN; and at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at the Bookcase, 607 East Lake Street Wayzata, MN.
What book(s) are you currently reading?
Journey into Fear by Eric Ambler, The Reserve by Russell Banks, and The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Who?
The nurse Catherine Barkely in Farewell to Arms. She is stoic, sexy, assertive, blonde and I don’t want her to die.

If your favorite author came to Minnesota, who would it be and what bar would you take him/her to?
I would take Cormac McCarthy to the Muddy Pig Pub in St. Paul cause I love the name.

What was your first favorite book?
Zorba the Greek.

Let’s say Fahrenheit 451 comes to life, which book would you become in order to save it from annihilation?
Leaves of Grass.

What is one book you haven’t read but want to read before you die?
The Adventures of Augie March.
